Money Mindset
with Chronic Illness

Exploring our emotional relationship to money isn't something we often do.

We're told to "just" learn financial literacy skills and that will solve the problems. Most financial literacy programs and curriculum only focus on the "practical" side: budgeting, saving or investing.

If we skip the emotional side, budgeting isn't going to do much for us. We may be caught in endless loops of avoidance, impulsivity, anxiety, or fear.

Avoiding our money by not looking at credit card statements or not knowing how much is coming in or out.

The stress of not knowing what's there and if it'll be enough.

Impulsively spending money on things that we find joyful. For a moment it helps. Then that guilt and shame arrives.

Add in a chronic illness?

Oof. That brings up a whole host of new money issues. Increased money shame, loss of identity, decreased employment or trouble in relationships. Navigating and understanding the healthcare system in the US.

You feel out of control and the financial stress is making it worse.

Money Mindset with Chronic Illness is a 10-week virtual group offering you a place to explore your emotional relationship with money while learning practical financial skills that takes living with a chronic illness into account.

Offering you a place for community and support, you'll have a chance to explore the unique situations that come up with money when living with a chronic illness.

We'll be exploring:

  • Personal money stories and beliefs

  • Financial anxiety

  • Money shame

  • Relationships & Money

  • Values-based budgeting

  • Coping with uncertainty

  • Considerations if neurodivergent

  • Practical financial strategies

  • and more

You'll learn how you emotionally relate to money and if there are certain beliefs that may be holding you back from handling your money in a way aligned to your values.

We take a shame free approach here. There are no "good" or "bad" money decisions. All of us make decisions with money that at the time made sense, however we may realize certain patterns aren't working for us.

To make changes, we have to start with awareness. Let's start here, together
